Gerritt and Jim started The State of Shakespeare in the fall of 2010 as a way of educating young actors about acting Shakespeare. What began as two friends trying to find a way to work together quickly became something much bigger. Our passion for the works of Shakespeare and more specifically, working on productions of Shakespeare’s plays as both as actors and directors, drove us to expand our simple idea. Neither of us envisioned a website like the one you are visiting.
In the process, we have become sound recorders and editors, interviewers, literary analysts, website developers and future ebook publishers. As a result we are always looking for knowledgeable people working in these areas. References are warmly welcomed.
Gerritt and Jim are seeking inspiring artists to interview on the program. If you would like to recommend a featured guest, please let us know! We don’t bite.
We are always open to new ideas about questions to ask, subjects to cover and inspiration about ways to approach the text.
Finally, our initial investment is almost used up. In fact, as the interviews progress, you can hear how much we’ve invested in improving the quality of our audio! Any contribution to our venture would be very appreciated.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the shows!
