About Ellen Adair

Ellen Adair has most recently joined the company of Fiasco Theater’s Cymbeline, given an extended Off-Broadway run by TFANA and the Barrow St. Theatre. Favorite Shakespearean roles include Helena in All’s Well That Ends Well (Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey), Portia in Merchant of Venice and Katherine and the Boy inHenry V (American Shakespeare Center), Lady Macbeth in Macbeth (New Repertory Theatre), Lady Percy in 1 Henry IV (Folger Shakespeare Theatre), Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (ShakespeareNow), and, at the ripe age of fifteen, Puck in Midsummer Night’s Dream (Indiana Shakespeare Company). Other Off-Broadway credits: Mint Theatre, Pearl Theatre, Abingdon/GayfestNYC. Other regional credits: Pioneer Theatre, Baltimore Centerstage, Huntington Theatre, Pennsylvania Shakespeare, Kitchen Theatre, Publick Theatre of Boston, Lyric Stage of Boston, SpeakEasy Stage, Centastage, Actors’ Shakespeare Project. TV/Film: “As the World Turns,” “Brotherhood” (SHOWTIME), and films about Louisa May Alcott, Louis Brandeis, John Audubon and the “God in America” series for PBS. While living in Boston, she won awards as Eliza in Pygmalion, Nora in A Doll’s House, and was nominated as Thomasina in Arcadia. She is a self-proclaimed “Shakespeare nerd,” and has a book of poems about theatre, plays, and characters, entitled Curtain Speech, coming out within the next year from the Pen & Anvil Press.
